Viewing contents of dvd-rw

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post, but the mods might put it in the most appropriate place if not.
I was given a dvd-rw the other day with music on it which I want to transfer to my ipod. But, on my laptop (windows xp) the files aren't showing up when i click on the dvd drive in 'my computer' and I've made sure they're not 'hidden'. It's as if they're not on it at all - but i know they are because my brother used it on his laptop (vista) with no problem. Any solutions? Thanks.

I had a similar problem, except i could view them on XP but not on Vista. Still haven't got a solution

go into My Computer an right click the CD Drive and hit properties, then in there click on hardware, then highlight your drive and click properties. Then click volumes and then populate. It should sort you out.

Sounds like the disc isn't closed properly.

    Moved from Laptops.
