The way the dollars is at the moment the prices are ridiculsly low and even if you add on 100$ dollars to cover shipping/customs etc it still is much lower than any european site/local shop...

Im in the market for a Fender Highway strat and i am just wondering is there any hope of ordering it from USA,,and where

yes, its possible but some shops won't ship outside the country. Best to check.

As for customs and shipping around $100! you're being VERY unrealistic. Check out the musical instruments sticky, theres a calculator in there to work out customs+vat.
As for shipping, it could be anywhere from $100 to $200~ alone, depending on what you're getting and what carrier is being used.

hmmmm...i was basing the 100$ thing on a few guitars that ship worldwide on ebay that are from US

Shipping is completely seperate from Customs charges. :pac:
The seller doesn't care about customs (VAT/duty). That's the buyers responsibility.

You'll be charged about 25% on the cost of the guitar and shipping by The Man when it gets to Ireland which you'll have to pay before the postie lets you have it.

if its a small shop they will usually be able to write you a receipt along the lines of '$20 Second hand Guitar'. Always works fine bringing it over in person but not certain about doing it this online.

i remember guys used to stick loads of owl tea bag in the case with their guitar to make it smell old and musty, trying to convince the customs it was not brand new

Discussing how to avoid/evade paying taxes is against the Charter and is a bannable offence.

No need to look all the way to the states anyway, there is a Highway 1 guitar on adverts at the mo.;)

I've bought a few guitars Secondhand from the US. Avoid the US Post as I've found that to be very slow , up to 8 weeks .

Shipping is usually between $120 and $180.

VAT at 21% will be charged. In one instance the seller hadn't declared the value and I had to provide proof of what I'd paid to Customs.

Duty is usually around 4.5 %

So about 25% Taxes and Duty plus shipping is the reality.

I don't sell guitars by the way.

I had a really good experience with www.drumcityguitarland.com. You have to wire the money to them but your guitar will arrive well packaged and set up to your specifications. Plus you get a load of extra crap like t-shirts, strings and picks which is nice.
