I have a 4 year old 15 gb ipod , just wondering has the sound quality on the later models improved , say on one of the newer nanos ?

Space wise and operational wise my 4 year old is grand , but quality certainly nowhere near cd standard !

    Cheers.

first off about the quality not being near CD standard, at what standard are you ripping it at?

would the later models improve sound quality , or is it more just nicer look/design and play video ??

Certainly the SQ will have improved from 1st gen ipod to 6th gen... but I don't know how nano's sound to be honest.

The "best" sounding flash DAP on the market at the moment is the new Sansa Fuze, based on reports the SQ is the same as the awesome Sansa Clip - which is near impossible to surpass..

Of course overall sound quality will depend on what headphones you are using?

Ah, so you're using the dock out... well in that case I don't think the overall SQ through dock out has changed significantly over the generations...certainly not enough to warrant an upgrade ;)

My sister recently bought a new Nano 4GB - the sound quality is good - certainly the same as CD quality in my honest opinion.
