Has anyone used a v drums set to trigger drum sounds in reason? I'm trying it out myself through trial and error getting there, but would appreciate some tips / pointers.

I use a Korg PADKontrol. It has built in presets for Reason that make it very simple. Maybe your V-Drums do too?

    should be straightforward enough

the act of actually setting up your multis within the nnxt tho is as complicated as you want to make it yourself

I read the V Drum manual. Each pad has a dedicated trigger (channel of the 127 available) that you can change but there seems to be a different setting on reason. I'm experimenting at the moment, but just don't have enough know how right now.

They should make a plug in that does all the hard stuff for ye. I just wanna hit things and make noise!

hit record in reason and hit a drum pad

see what note its mapped to and take note, do the same for all the other pads

thatll let you know where each pad resides in terms of triggering reason

then just program your hits with different velocity sensitivities in the nnxt for that note

I think i'd stumbled over this last time i was messing about. It took a while to figure out the whole velocity thing as well.

I'll go back to it and have a shot. Cheers for the replies.

Anyone know if you can trigger from Redrum?

i wouldnt bother triggering from redrum mate, its only got 10 channels

you can have as many as you like with the nnxt, with 127 different samples per note based on velocity mapping

haven't used reason in ages but theres definitely a "midi learn" function.
try right clicking on the play button over each redrum channel and seeing if theres an option for "midi learn". if there is click hit, then hit the drum pad you want to assign to it, and that should be it.
