Vista cannot see XP

So I have a vista PC and a few XP PC's.

For a while I had the Vista & XP machines on a wireless network and they could see each other but circumstances meant I moved one of my XP machines and the vista machine on to a cat5 network.

Now, the XP wired machine can see the other wireless XP machines and the Vista machine but Vista cannot see the XP machine.

I've searched forums, microsoft, downloaded patches bla bla bla. Vista can see the XP machine in it's network map but it cannot access it or display it in networking.

    Any ideas?
