    K well it's my 18th birthday in 6wks.

I'm having a party in my house. It's the first 18th out of my close group of my friends so don't want it to be ott but want something a bit memorable.

Lots of people have said I should have a theme but I'm useless at coming up with those sort of ideas so does anyone have any please??

I'm not good at dressing up & getting into it unless I've a good idea! Just don't want to have a theme for no-one to do it!

Also, what would people suggest to do for food & music?

    thanks!

I gave this advice to someone planning a party, they were going to have it at home, but if you find somewhere suitable & you have enough time you could do the same. Just leave out the games. It might be too far, but Joe Mays in Skerries have a fair sized function room upstairs.

Alternatively have you tried your local GAA club? I did a birthday party at the Whitehall one last year and it was pretty big. The eireann sports club near tolka park has a function room, can't remember the exact name of it but it was near tolka park.

Here is what I told the other poster:
How about a James Bond night? (looks down to sig!) I have all the theme tunes, and an excellent little gadget called a 00DJ! The James Bond of DJing! You could get all your guests to dress as different chracters from the films.

Why not write various characters from the films, (check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Bond for the full list!) on post it notes and stick them out of the persons view, (forehaed/back etc). Then the person has to guess who they are by asking others questions. They can only reply yes or no. So they can ask am I a villain? etc.

As regards to food, martinis are the obvious choice, but you could make pretty much any drink really. According to one site James Bond claims to 'Prefer the ordinary plain food of the country' He does like Vodka & Tonic or champange, you could replace that with sparkling wine from Tesco!

In Live and Let Die, he eats little neck clams and fried chicken maryland. Obviously little neck clams are out, but you could get some southern fried chicken pieces from tesco again. Also he likes Tagliatelle Verdi when in italy, but of course this can't really be served cold - goes bit rubbery!

You could do it like the ice hotel, lots of shiny paper, and cellophane. Or check out the link I gave for the list of bond information. Might jog your memory for the themes of the films. Alternatively as the last film was called Casino Royale, you could decorate like a casino. Chips, fake money, coins, cheap n tatty jewelery etc?

thanks I actually read it on the other thread. Think it's a bit too much for me, don't want anything too costy like.

also, my friend's theme for her party was 'diamonds are forever'
she had martinis, hired dealers & tables with loadsa chips etc, it was huge!

Sorry, but might be an idea if any of your friends need ideas! Another easy one is one we do in the UK, but might not go down too well here, depending on your religious views. It's a vicars & tarts party. To put it simply The Men Dress as Vicars (Priests, Reverends, Pastors etc) and the women dress as Tarts (Tramps, Sleazy, Naughty Apparel etc)

Women can dress up as "Women of the Night", sexy stewardess outfits, nurse outfits, plastic/leather fetish outfits and the list goes on and on. You can be as adventurous of simple as you want. Hope this helps.
