New house, please help me sort out my tv

I've recently bought a house and for the first time ever I have to sort these things myself.

The chanels I want are CNN, Chanel 4, MTV and the regular Irish ones obviously. No interset in sports or movies.

Got a leaflet today about sky, I'd like a sky+ box but the chanels I've named above aren't listed on any of the packages for sky.

Chorus/ntl has a much better selection according to it's website but surely sky has the same ones, I'm confused. Am I missing something?

Living in Cork city (Wilton), have no landline and don't want to get one. Using mobile broadband from 3 and despite all the negative reports about it I'm really happy with it, it's always been reliable and it's cheap so not needing broadband with the tv package.

    Any advice appreciated, thanks guys:)

Sky does carry the channels you're interested in.

Sky have their main standard channels (ie. not including sports or movies) seperated into bundles they refer to as "mixes". Your first mix is €20, and it's €2 per each additional mix (6 mixes in total).

As you want MTV, then you can go for the "Music Mix"

If you wish for Sky One, UKTV Gold or Living TV, you'd need the Entertainment Mix.

There is also a Bonus Mix, which you get on top of ANY mix you choose. The bonus mix carries RTE1, 2, TV3, TG4, Channel 4*, etc. Also BBC1, 2, UTV, CNN etc available even without a subscription as these run free to air.

You can get Sky without a phoneline, however a one-off €37.50 surcharge applies (still cheaper than 2 months eircom line-rental)

*Please bear in mind that certain programmes (mostly if not all US imports) on C4 on Sky are blocked in ROI due to rights issues.
