    Hi Folks,
Myself and a number of other people are very interested in starting an Airsoft club in Galway, with the intention of organising groups for Skirmish games, probably at G-Tac out in Eyrecourt (About 40+ mins from Galway City), and of spreading interest in the sport.

If this strikes anyone in Galway as being particularly interesting, or if there are any pre-existing groups in Galway that I'm unaware of, please say so below, or pm me! Airsoft is a fantastic hobby, and I'm certain that lots of people in the Galway area are interested in doing a bit more of it, especially now that Galway city has it's own Airsoft dealer. (Cartronix on Eglington Street)

    Hey Malbory,
Good to see you on Boards. Would be great to see a club starting up over this side of the country. Have you bought anything in Cartronix and if so what did you get and how much was it? Drop me a PM if you would like to exchange numbers.
    Martin.

i was looking at the website
it seems to sell devices for warning abouit speed traps
are they not illegal in ireland
under the 1991 speed meteres act

". In these Regulations, "speed meter detector" means any device which is capable of being used to indicate the existence of, or to frustrate the operation of, electronic or other apparatus being used to give indications from which the speed at which a person was driving can be inferred."

    be careful

    Hey All,
By club, I mean a group of people who get together to organise games and competitive events and such; not necessiarily a team at all. A team would be a nice secondary objective, but for now, we'd be happy just to get a few good sized games going.

No idea if Cartronix are willing to offer discounts; it's a possibility that I'd be looking into though:-)

Haven't bought anything from Cartronix yet, but there's a very nice MP5k AEG that I'm interetested in. €149, and unlike buying from the 'net, I was actually able to see the thing and heft it about a bit. It felt very nice; looked good and was nicely weighted.

    So thats the plan:-)

I was looking at the same thing as Malboury, a beautiful MP5K i'll have to snap up when i've got the cash.

Anyhoo, I'll be giving him a hand with the organisation of the club.
Amongst the practices we are considering are a part-ownership program for people who want to try the sport before investing in their own equipment, safety and maintenance training, regular practices and sponsored events (sponsors tbc).

Should be a great way for Galwegians to give the sport a good try and pick up a worthy hobby, and hopefully a way for the veterans to get a solid team and training regimen together.

I look forward to working on this club :D

so you want to run an airsoft business by the sound of it,
considering the only site in the west is G-TAC run by mr.and mrs maxforce,
they do games at weekends and also cover rentals for people that dont have there own aegs which is standard on all airsoft sites

I'm in on this too. :)

No, definately not a business, it'll be a club and any fees will be to cover expenses.

The part-ownership program Shambles was talking about is where the club buys a number of guns, members can then pay a once off (or yearly, if it comes to it) fee for use of them (this is just to cover the cost of the guns).

We are also looking at ordering in supplies in bulk (such as ammo and gas) which we'll provide to members at around cost price (I say around because we may need a slight markup to help cover club expenses).

It looks like we may be using the G-TAC site.

I am currently working on a website, more info on that soon.
