****ing brilliant album. Only four songs (and 12 short pieces of feedback!) but each one is fantastic. Really angry in places, I cannot recommend it enough.

Is it as good as godspeed?

It's not the same as Godspeed and if you're expecting Godspeed you'll be disappointed.

Hmmmm.....on first listen I am not convinced that it is as good as their other work. There is nothing in there as melodic and beautiful as on He Has Left Us Alone... or Born Into Trouble... nor does it hit the spot like Horses in the Sky.

You're right - it is definitely an angry album, Efrim does a whole lot of shouting...However, on first listen, 13 Blues seems to incorporate all this anger to the detriment of the melody. There is nothing on here that I would describe as a beautiful piece of music, which is a pity after some of their fantastic earlier work.

Their music often does need quite a few listens to get into, but I am worried that this one is not going to do it for me.

The first two tracks may be a bit steamrollerish but the last two are more like older Silver Mt. Zion. I can see your point about the melodies but as they've done things gently and melodically for all their releases, it's nice to hear them explode once in a while.
