    Translated from spanish paper elmundo

No sign of this in the english language media yet. It's probably another in a long line of false alarms but here goes:

"the team of divers working for lawyer Marcos Aragao Correia in the search for the missing child Madeleine McCann at the bottom of a lake in the Portuguese Algarve have found "some bones" that could be human or those of an animal, according to the portuguese website 'PortugalDiario'

The discovery of the bag took place shortly after 15.00 according to Telma Fernandes, assistant to the team, who explained that they were 'small bones' and they only opened the bag a little to see the contents. 'When we realised what they were we called the authorities and we don't know any more' she added.

According to her account, they couldn´t tell the colour of the bag, tied with ropes, because it was covered in mud.

The National Republican Guard and the Police were at the scene and were the only ones, together with some of the divers, who could approach the bag. Fernandes said that 'all other persons were outside the perimeter, including the detectives from the Metodo 3 agency'

Edit: Report has been updated to say that police had a look and handed the bones over to the detectives.

To those saying "I hope it's not her", why?

The discovery of her bones, or her body, will give her parents closure and allow them to mourn the death of their child, whilst if it remains unfound, they'll always have it in the back of their mind that she could still be out there.

Chances are slim that she is still out there, at her age I doubt she'd be able to be brought up to believe that someone else is her parents, so the probability is that she is dead.

But if there was closure what would people do with their caring ways?
