    Hi,
My job currently has an average salary of 50-55k i am well below this but am expecting to be brought up closer to that in the next review. The job takes me abroad mon-fri every week i get expenses paid so i dont make anything extra from the travel and was wondering should i be asking for more than the average salary as I give up a lot of personal time for the job. Is anyone in a similar position?

    Cheers
    Tony

    Hi Tony

I think it depends on what the management team is like.

Are they the type who would agree with you, or are they the type who would rather you left?

Certainly there is no harm putting your case forward.

Would you be easy to replace?

Well my boss is fairly good with me and understands how much we give up for the job as he did the same thing for years.

I'm not blowing my trumpet but i wouldnt be that easy to replace they are trying to hire additional people but cannot find people to travel, but then again everyone is replaceable.

Is there any way you can gather information to make a case for a rise?

What to other companies pay for similar jobs? If you were to leave could you match your current salary easily?

Do you achiever your targets etc etc? If you are making a case for a rise try and put together some hard evidence to justify it - this should help make a good impression.

    Put your case forward so.

I take it you wouldn't quit if you don't get what you want?

I think I would, kinda fed up of underselling myself. I could get the same money somewhere else and get to go home every evening, the travel bug wears off fast.

I like what i do just want to make it feel worth my while to be away from home so much and leaving the other half at home alone.
