    +1 :)

Rorschach looks ok but at the end of the day his "look" isn't that important imo as his character will be portrayed though voice and body language. Scarily, Jeffrey Dean Morgan looks spot on for The Comedian (not too sure about the style of the mask though). However, from the look of Nite-Owl and Ozymandias I have a horrible suspicion that Joel Schumacher had some influence :-s

Bah! I looked up about Watchmen on wiki and can't see what the big deal is, looks like a less funny version of the Tick.

Also... FAIL at what? being a Comic Geek? ... well ya got me there then, because a comic geek i'm not.

On a plus side though I think I have the same set of grunge brushes that they used to add affect to these photos.

Presumably I'm having a stroke because that clearly doesn't say what I think it says...

On the subject of the film adaptation, I have little faith in any film doing the comic justice although there is a (very) small chance that I may be pleasantly surprised.

    .......

While the movie may well end up failing to reflect this, the original comic series is one of the greatest pieces of sequential art of the 20th Century. Describing it as "a less funny version of The Tick" is somewhat akin to watching Psycho and describing it as "a boring remake of Friday the 13th".

    Edited to add:

I knew this thread gave me deja vu. This has already been posted last week.

I agree with Fysh - Watchmen can only be described as one of the greatest pieces of popular literature ever created. Please, read it before the film inevitably emerges a shadow of the thematically rich source material. It will truly reshape your notions of what a 'comic' can be. It is far, far more than a simplistic superhero fable, but is instead a psycholical slice of social commentary which perhaps captures the essence of 80s paranoia, fear of the bomb and such themes more effectively than any of its counterparts. Also, it is a damn good superhero story too - real vigilanties who suffer for their work, with only one superhuman featured (the effects of his powers are examined in often horrific and disturbing ways - a true take on what a real radioactive being would be).

well, i'll give it a read so, if its notion reshaping and all. At least then I could say "FAIL" to people when they tell me they haven't read or heard of Watchmen before.

reading through them at the moment. They are very good but the more I read the less I think they'll translate well to a movie. My main reason is that you don't get to read Rorschachs thoughts, instead you read parts of his diary... I don't know how they'll translate this over to film. Plus it seems very noir in style and from the above photos it looks like they aren't taking the movie in this direction.

I think the photo below gives me far more confidence that they will get the correct tone down: looks like it has the atmosphere and style down just right. And a Nixon poster implies they won't be updating it with an unnecessary "Post 9/11" attitude. Huzzah! More set shots here: http://rss.warnerbros.com/watchmen/2007/11/the_backlot.html

Glad your enjoying reading it. Alot of fans of the comic are divided over the film at the moment - most are waiting to see the first film footage released as so much of the characters is down to how the act/move/talk not just how they look esp Rorschach. The photos look like they've spent money on the film but wither they've spent it wisely we'll just have to wait and see.

Ooooh...now they look kinda cool. And seems they might not have made the mistake that V for Vendetta did by updating the storyline to make it relevant to the current political situation.

don't know if this has already been posted. Some of the new Watchmen Posters have been released (not sure if they're legit)

They're legit, I like the Comedian one.
Malin Ackerman really fits that outfit, daayyum.

I bought the graphic novel only slightly before thy announced the movie, that makes me cooler, right? :p
