    I'm using the Gimp.

I want an image 2cm high 4cm wide, but I want the resolution to be high.
So I set the width and resolution at 600dpi, but the image size is always massive when I export it, about 12cm 6cm

What am I doing wrong ? thanks

I don't know the workings of the GIMP precisely but could it be possible that when you tell it to export the image it is using a different setting of 200dpi , that would explain the increase in the print dimensions of the image. Maybe look around your export settings to see if anything like that turns up ?
