Okay I currently have a Garmin 660 and have a lot of locations and POI's saved on it, is there anyway to export these and import them to the likes of a HP IPAQ 314 or is there a universal type file that can be exported ?

    Thanks in Advance

Uploading POIs might be dificult, the Garmin POIloader program is a one-way process i.e. it's designed to take a file from the PC and download it to the GPS but not the other way around.

To upload the favourites (waypoints), you need to get yourself a copy of Garmin Mapsource, this will allow you to upload the favourites to a file on your PC and then you can use them in Gogle Earth and any other program which accepts GPX files.

The cheapest version of Mapsource is called Trips and Waypoints manager, this comes for free with some of the more expensive GPS units, you get a farirly basic map of the whole world and the ability to upload and download favourites to & from all Garmin GPS units.

You don't need MapSource for this. You can just hook up the GPS to the PC and copy the file called current.gpx from the Garmin\GPX folder on the drive that gets assigned to your nuvi to somewhere convenient.
