Okay, so im trying to convert some units here and need someone to check for me, the answers i am getting are silly!

I have values in pounds/million cubic feet and want to convert to kt/Mt. the density of the gas im using is 0.8 kg/m^3.

So here is what i have done:

    X lbs/mmcf = X * (0.000453592/(0.8*28316.8466*10^-3))kt/Mt

    is that correct? please help!!

Maybe you could define what you mean by kt/Mt?

Could you define the units clearly, they seem not to be using convention. What is kt/mt, Kilograms per meter cubed? what is mmcf? Is itfeet cubed*10^6?

mmcf is million cubic feet (ie a measure of volume) and kt/Mt is kilotonne per megatonne.

They are emission factors for fuels. so for example, 5 kt/Mt is saying that you will get 5 kilotonnes of emissions for every megatonne of fuel you burn...

Does that define it for you?

    thanks guys..:)

Probably too late to be of any use to you, but I use "Unit conversion tool 5.1" from www.accelware.com . Costs $29 but worth every penny for checking conversions.

I got: [lb/M.cu.f] * (20.023498*10^-3) = [kt/Mt] with the gas density provided. Does that work out for you. Couldn't be bothered typing up the method! If you know a website where i can just scan and post in good quality i might put it up. I'm not familiar with pic posting... Can you do it here? Anyways best of luck
