    They're only about 25 - 30 quid.

Or buy one second hand somewhere, maybe gamestop/buy & sell etc..

IIRC someone said Tesco had them for a tenner.

The only difference between HDMI cables is length and durability. If it works, it works as good as any cable. They are all the same in terms of picture and sound quality.

    While we're at it:

    Whats the difference between a 60GB and 40GB PS3?

Where's the best place to buy a PS3

Which is better, a PS3 or an Xbox360?

That 3rd one can't be answered in a sticky...

They could all be put into one sticky (Playstation FAQ like)

well perhaps not the best place to buy as it is a constantly changing market

+1 A friend went out and bought a 3m hdmi cable for 125eur. We tested it on games and blurays against my 20eur sony one. No difference, whatsoever.
The manufacturers claim that the more expensive ones are shielded against interference etc. We had both the cables very near pc, tv, monitor, etc and still no difference.

Is there a noticible difference from a scart lead?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,373 ✭✭✭ongarite

If you are using a SCART lead with your PS3, you obviously don't have a HDTV.
HDMI is for HD resolutions only.

Ebay is the best place for any cables.

    http://cgi.ebay.ie/2M-HDMI-Cable-v1-3-for-Blu-Ray-DVD-PS3-HDTV-UK_W0QQitemZ310036955351QQihZ021QQcategoryZ32837QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Particularly longer ones you will get shafted in Maplins and any of the other High street retailers.

Just to Echo what has already been said, with Digital cables like HDMI and DVI the price has no bearing on quality, it either works or it doesn't regardless of what you have paid.

He could still be using a scart lead on a hdtv.
I know of a few people who werent aware that there was a difference, and, for those who were'nt aware, the difference is huge!
Get yourself a 15eur or so hdmi cable if you have a hdtv and be amazed.
Check your tv first. Some tvs advertised as hd ready dont have hdmi connecters.
    They have 'component in' connecters

    Wow, that's generous.

Tbh though the rest of your prices are a complete rip-off. Do you not realise the idea behind spam is that you're meant to make it irresistibly cheap. If people can walk into a store and buy one for a tenner, or just a euro or two off ebay, why the hell would they pay €18 + postage to some random spammer on the internet?

Well tbh now. Im feeling the pure and utter pissiness of this thread, rip off HDMI cables, and spammers. What wrecks my head even more is i spent 35 eur on a DVI- HDMI converter and HDMI Lead and found that my LCD isnt compatible with HDCP. No LCD warhawk for me.

WTF like, i can understand this for Blu Ray and Even DVD. But for games, the only thing you can do minus HDCP in game or XMB is rip some in game video or images. Utter Fail.

Just out of interest , whats a DVI -HDMI converter ?

DVI and HDMI are pin for pin compatible , no converter needed , just a cable , like this ,

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=316699

If HDCP is whats stopping the signal then theres not much you can do about it , however Ive never heard of a DVI to HDMI converter , its not necessary and sounds dodgy , so just maybe , that is your problem !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,497 ✭✭✭Nick_oliveri

More or less the same thing but like a DVI to VGA converter.
