Upgrading to sky+

At the risk of repeating other threads. I want to upgrade to sky+ and use the original box and another spare box I have as freeview boxes in two of the bedrooms.
I can get the sky+ box on ebay.
What else do I need to get/do to make the whole set up work?

A step by step guide would be appreciated as my experience with this sort of thing is limited at best.

My thanks in advance for any help

    SD

You'll need to replace your single LNB on your dish, with a quad LNB so that you'll have 4 outputs.

Sky+ will require two of these outputs alone. Then an output for each of the other 2 boxes.

Is this easily done? What connections and wiring are required?

Changing the LNB should be relatively straight forward.

You'll need F-connectors, which are screw-on connectors. You'll also need satellite-grade cable (copper braid and tape) to run from the dish and the various boxes.

    Thanks for that.

Does the sky+ unit work once it is hooked up or do I have to contact sky to upgrade my account?

Yes, you have to phone Sky.
