going from wage to salary, a quick Q

    hey guys,

    i work in retail and i'm paid fortnighly. i'll be starting a new position mid-month where i will paid monthly.

    does this mean i'll get two weeks pay at the end of the month or do i have to wait 6 weeks before i get paid?

    It depends on the payroll person.

    If she's a dick, she'll make you wait six weeks. If she's nice, you'll get two weeks pay.

    My money is on her being a dick! :)

    Having worked in retail previously and switched jobs within the industry.. I reckon they'll make you wait.

    i think you could get lucky seeing as it is only half way through the month. if you were starting the last week of the month then you would probably have to wait until the following month to get paid. but seeing as it is only half way through this month there is a chance you will get paid for the 2 weeks you worked at the end of this month and then next month get your full months wages.

    usually even if you are paid on say the 25th of every month the wages would be done up a few days before that, maybe the 20th. so once all your details are given to payroll before the 20th then they are able to pay you. these dates are purely an example now.

    dont hold me to it but i think you might be ok.

    If the position is, as your title states, moving from a wage job to a salary job then imo you should get the 2 weeks.
