Adding second switched light to room

In our new house, there is a single light in the ensuite. I'm adding a light over the mirror. I was going to have it come on with the ceiling light, but now i would prefer if I could have it switched seperately. I have easy access to the switch wiring and space above the room, so how would I wire this up?
I am comfortable working with electrics, and just need a wiring guide to do it.

    thanks

It depends on the system your sparks has used to wire the lights in. I am presuming that by switching separately, you mean a switch on the light? If so you need a permanent feed to the light.

To get a permanent supply to your wall light, you need to find out whether you are running from existing light, the switch, or both.

With the light switch turned off, check if you have a live feed at the connections behind your ceiling light. If so, this is where to take your live from and run neutral off neutral off light neutral.

If you don't have a live up there you have to take it from the switch (or any available lighting circuit live in roof void being sure to take neutral from same circuit) and neutral from there or light point.

I should have said, I want the switch on the wall as opposed to a switch on the light itself.
