    Does anyone know what socket a DDR1 333 Sempron 2800 mobile would be?
    My gf has an alright laptop but I always think the CPU is a bit weak and that an improvement could be made if I stuck in an Athlon or whatever. Does anyone know the suitable Athlon replacement for a Sempron mobile?

    It could be socket A or socket 754. If you download belarc advisor it should tell you what socket the cpu is. Just to let you know upgrading the processor could be extremely tricky as well as pricey.

    Pricey because it could be expensive to get your hands on the necessary cpu. Tricky because the new cpu may require more power or better cooling than your current one which is fine if your laptop can handle it. If it can't though it could cause a lot of problems.

    I don't think there is such a thing as a mobile socket a so it'd have to be 754, the newer socket type only offers Semprons higher then 2800+
