Hundreds of jobs are expected to created in Co Westmeath following the approval of a planned €200m commercial development in Mullingar.

The Blackhall project includes up to 30 shops, a hotel, restaurants and a multi-storey car park.

Its about time Mullingar got the green light on this. The town really has gone to the dogs.

They might have actually realised that a lot of people head to Athlone, Tullamore and Dublin at the weekend to do their shopping as there is nothing in the town.

I think Mulligar has enough hotels and b&bs ect. They should put in a bowling alley complex with pool tables etc or something instead of the hotel.
