Outsourcing

Im confused, Maybe someone here can help...

If you have say a company thats wants to setup as an outsourcing company to get business from large multinationals, you contact the IDA for help, what kinda support do they offer Grants etc...

What Ive noticed alot lately is Vendor companies in Dublin who provide solutions to big multinationals Say in the IT sector, have been outsourcing again to Eastern Europe... When they do this them make a margin for nothing, i.e. they price taknig into account an Irish wage and then pay an E European a lower wage and pocket the rest...

This has the result of often there being a very poor quality, even I can see that..

Surely this is not when the Client (Multinational) company expects, or even the IDA

Its really beginning to annoy me as I can get a job, In fact I got a contract not to long ago and just b4 I started I was told situation has changed job still there but I would have to move to the Czech Rep. at half the wage if I still wanted it

Thats crap isnt it? Or is it just Life?

And then we hear on the news that there is a crysis in the IT industry with not enough employees availible...

I get the feeling that its all just spin

    Anyone got any opinions?

i think you will find the shortage is "highly skilled and trained positions"

helpdesk monkeys are 2 a penny in Ireland and bout 20 a penny in india and some parts of europe.

I think a dregree in Computer Science and 10 yrs Dev experence should be enough for any company, I just reckon Im too expensive, and I would not even have the opportunity to accept a lower wage, cause they wont even interview...

Very Depressing, but Im probably missing something obvious...

It's the new reality unfortunately. I work for a multinational which is doing well. The biggest cost the company has though is wages and is increasing as the company grows. Problem is if sales arent rising as fast as wage costs. The company now has a policy of hiring new employees in low cost countries such as India. The good thing is they are not letting people go but with natural attrition they are replacing the people with people in India.
I have noticed the quality thing. I know the engineers are intelligent because i have spent time with them but they do have issues with English and work quality which others have to clean up. It is a bit annoying.

Only answer in this case is to leave stuff off your CV so you look less qualified ???

What's the issue with the IDA? Are you saying that the IDA facilitates/encourages outsoucing? Can you explain a bit further?

Im not sure at all, you see, But I know thats some of these companies get help to setup, grants etc.. Also different grants encouraging the company to locate in a rural area...

The also benefit from really low corporate Tax...

Think Im just tired and bitter

I wouldnt emagine that the IDA would not encourage outsourcing, defeats the purpose of job creation

Wish some could explain it to me properly :-(

Well you have 10 years IT experience but people won't even interview you.

My comment regarding your English is valid I think. Are you shooting yourself in the foot by sending a poor CV and cover letter? I know this is just a forum, and people type in a casual manner, but if I received a cover letter in the style of writing you are using here, I would throw it in the bin.

No offence, I'm just trying to help.
