What's the price? What are you projecting it on to? What will the light levels of the room be like?

Looking at the specs, it seems about as entry-level as it gets nowadays. The only advantage that will have on a CRT is a bigger screen. Contrast, brightness and noise will all probably be inferior. Good spec HD projectors are coming down in price all the time, so maybe it's worth waiting until a better-specced one comes within your budget.

    Cheers,

That one was only about €130 + delivery...

I thought as much and felt it would be just wasted so I went ahead and purchased an Optoma HD65 instead.

This should give me decent quality for the money and a flavour as an enrty level unit.

I also picked up an 84" diag 16:9 Matte White Screen Gain 1.0.

    Thanks again,

    Mike.

    Hi Mike2006.

Will you tell us where you bought the gear and how much it cost?
Will you post a review of the gear with your opinions on it when you get it all up and running.

    Thanks.

    Fazer6.

    Hey Fazer,

No problem. This is what I propose to do.

    1. Optoma HD65 (Purchased from PCWB.ie @ €646)
    2. Optoma DS-9084PMG 84" Diagonal 19:9 Screen (From pcwb.ie@ €80)
    3. Pioneer 5.1 Speaker System
    4. Pioneer AMP
    5. PS2 c/w DVD player
    6. Sky+

I am going to set this up initially in a room as a test set-up because it will eventually be set-up in a new build house...

If anybody has any recommendations on whick input ports I should use for each component and what connectors I need to purchase I would be grateful..

    Thanks,

    Mike.
