A Lost spin-off?

Now that we know how long Lost has got left, I'm wondering if the show's end will be the end of things altogether? Lots of other successful franchises have managed to branch out into other areas like spin-offs and while they aren't always successful (The Lone Gunmen for example), sometimes they can do quite well.

I see Ashes to Ashes seems to be getting quite positive reviews after the end of Life on Mars (not really a fan of either so can't comment on that too much). How would people feel about Cuse, Abrams, Lindelof etc. working on a spin-off of the show after the final series ends?

Personally I'd be all for it. Not sure how it would work. Maybe document events on the island from the past, maybe use another island altogether, maybe something away from the island, who knows. I do feel however that it would be a real shame if the franchise ended with the show. George Lucas is still churning out Star Wars stuff so why can't Lost, right?

Anyone got any thoughts? Also, anyone know if there's been discussion on something like this at all?

Loved Life on Mars, so far I'm still not sure about Ashes to Ashes, so far it's been good, but London just isn't Manchester.

I dunno really how it would go. They'd need to make it fairly different from the original or people would just feel that it was dragging on.

We might end up with another 'Frasier' :)
And hopefully not another 'Joey' :(

I can't really see it myself. Lost is not really a show you can spin off. The only real way they could have done it is maybe showing what happens post island and well we have flash forwards which are doing that already

I don't know, I think there seems to be alot of history to the island and the project.

I mean you have all the stuff between the Hostiles and Dharma natives. And I would imagine that there could be some interesting drama involved with how (after the mass gassing) the others community functioned and lived (power struggles, distrust, people sick of the island) This could all be blended in with revealing the mythology of the island that we know little about (and may never, under the current franchise)

I think there's plenty there to work off. However, often spin offs are given much lower budgets cast with crappy actors, poor production etc. etc. and the fans immediately are put off. But, if done right, I think it could be a winner. I would imagine though that Cuse, Lindelof, Abrams and co. will have the world at their feet once Lost finishes and may want to move on to bigger things than a spin off.

I seriously hope they don't do a spin off - it would ruin the show. I'm still p1ssed off with them for doing the online Lost Experience. I'm obsessed with the show but even I wasn't sad enough to follow that. No offence to anyone who did :p I'm sure a lot of fans on here would like a spin off so I'm sure they'll get the audience for it but I think it would just be a sell out series with loads of random weird wtf moments that would be dragged out forever. Even if it was a series about when Dharma were on the island...

That said, a chic-flic about Des and Penny could work..:D

Wouldn't be interested in a spin off tbh. A spin off would have to involve the Island. They'd populate the beach with a new cast and give them the same storylines; smokie, dharma, island mysteries, etc. That's been done, it's called Home and Away.

As someone mentioned in another thread, a Sawyer Hurley 'odd-couple' style show could be hilarious imo.:D

Realistically, a show based on the dharma guys living and experimenting on the island might work, you could have a lot of typical lost wtf moments.

Sawyer would need a great catchline though. Whenever Hurley messed up or did something crazy! "Oh, Lardo!"

a lost spin off? i dont think that would work at all, its the mystery of what happens next that makes the show good, and a spin off would result in a different story line which i couldnt see working
