Music System setup with laptop and wi-fi?

Hi,
I'm looking for advice here, I don't have any kind of stereo. I've got a laptop with 60GB of music on it, and an iPhone.
I need to get a music setup that's better than my laptop speakers (shouldn't be hard) My budget is £100-£200 but I don't think that will get me much. I also have some amazon.co.uk vouchers burning a hole in my pocket so I could use up some of those too.

At the moment I'm considering:
1. A hifi with an ipod dock. Simple, cheap.

or

2. Something like a squeezebox, with an amplifier and speakers. I think that's a setup where I could invest in something that's good quality and build on it. (although quality and low budget might not go together well)

Anyone got any thoughts. I'll probably move fast on this, we're having a party in a couple of weeks. Thanks.

If your laptop has blu-tooth theres a good few Hi-Fi systems that you can stream straight from iTunes or whatever your rolling on.
