hi - has anyone got any suggestions for me -

we have 4 email accounts and use 2 computers. ( actually there may be a 3rd soon ) --- and i need to be able to get all 4 accounts at all 2 or 3 computers. currently i am using osa sync to keep the accounts synced ( outlook on running on xp) -- but i find osa sync is always breaking or going out of sync or something and taking up a log of time keeping it going. what i was thinking was if there was either a good opensource version of ms exchange or something like that ( i have been looking at hmailserver but i dont know if it's what i need )....or else some kind of webmail like mail2web that would allow me to keep 4 accounts on the one page ( so that i dont have to be loging in and loging out all the time - or have 4 tabs open all the time )

maybe someone has some ideas that can help me

I've used pegasus mail before - a very nice utility although not as functionally full as Outlook/Exchange it's still a very nice SMTP/POP3 server.
I'm sure it's been upgraded since i last used it - you should check it out.
You could install the server software on one of the computers and access the mail with the other 1...... as far as i remember it wasn't hardware intensive...

Mdaemon is a product that I used to use but haven't for a while. It had loads of features back then and was simple to use and didn't need a monster machine to run it on.

Gmail, set up an account, have it collect from your old accounts, you can use it from any computer and many mobile phones.

    +1

But just be aware that hotmail doesn't support PoP. That only concerns you if you have a hotmail account though :)

I have a mix of gmail and pop3 accounts. I use outlook to grab mail from all them. The pop3 accounts have webmail access so I just use the web to see the email on other computers. All are downloaded into Outlook PST files that are backed up. I can copy the PST files to a laptop if I need access to them when on the move.

Only last week switched to a live.ie account and Windows mail live, have it on laptop and pc, not sure exactly how but both programs are sync'd even sent items, I like it so much I have forwarded all my gmail stuff to it, only thing I miss is google chat, but I downloaded GTalk.

this seems like what i'm after thanks .... do you know can 2 users access the same account at the same time. We basically have a number of common accounts which we use from different computers, sometimes simultaneously.

Tried out the gmail option, didnt know gmail could do that. would be ideal except that i need to use folders and the labels system in gmail although excellent, doesnt meet my needs

I have tried a lot of the other stuff before
but thanks so much for all the replies

Hmail server is good for pop accounts and has webmail support. There's good support and addon's for it.
