I left a torrent downloading last night and today when I try and play on ipoker it's ridic slow and the server keeps non-responding on me every once in a while. I know people have had similar issues before like this but I'm basically wondering is there any quick fix? I think I had this problem once before myself and it took a day or two for it to start working normal again. I was using Utorrent btw.

so its still a problem long after youve stopped the torrent? Most likely it's a problem with your router, try resetting it.

Check to see Utorrent is not running in the background (on the bottom near the time display, check there isnt a Utorrent icon there, if there is right click and exit)
If that is not the problem reboot your router.
If that doesnt resolve it, Reboot PC.

you are probably still running the torrent program which is taking up your upload bandwidth which is important for whatever gay reason

Torrents make all poker programs laggy.

Power down Modem/Router, then power up again. Only iPoker has this problem as far as I am concerned. Downloading torrents causes issues for most poker clients but iPoker takes the bickie. Even after the torrent is turned off.

    What do you mean by?:
i reformated my whole pc after it happened
If you formatted your hd then you would have to reinstall all of your poker clients.
But I take it from this:
all my other poker clients work perfect.
that you didn't format your hd.
If you didn't format it then reinstall the offending software and restart your router.

You formatted and did a full reinstall of XP/Vista etc for iPoker?

    Sick.

It's not a pc problem then. Ipoker is notorisly bad with regards lagging, connection problems etc. I would advise cashing out a looking elsewhere. BTW reformatting you entire hd just to make ipoker work properly is a tad OTT. iMO

did you power down you router for any length of time?

powered down my router for a few mins yea. maybe need to power it down for a longer time so it "forgets" about the torrents so to speak. i was going to reformat everything soon anyway btw as my pc was being uber slow. iPoker usually works fine at home here with Irish broadband but after torrents it can be ghey.

I think their was a thread on this problem a while back that had some kind of solution.

Is Irish BroadBand wireless into your house? If so I think it is a known (Discussed) issue with packet dropping or some thing. Just search this board for iPoker and there are a few thread discussing it. I think it was DeV who mentioned IBB/RipWave and those other wireless ISP's were bad news with iPoker on a regular/irregular basis.

the solution was to find some third party firmware for your router, you could try this.

I've noticed this problem for ages as I've bonus whored through paddypower, noiq and gpj. It has nothing to do with routers or your isp or upload bandwidth as far as I can tell. Could possibly problems with ports not closed properly by torrent clients that ipoker uses. Don't have a router in any case and I am on ntl.

No need to reformat harddrive. Everytime I used a torrent client I just reboot the machine before playing on ipoker. That's all you need to do and it's the only thing I find that works or move poker network. And dont download and play poker at the same time.
