just happened onto www.satellitetv.ie and clicked on their complete systems page and saw a complete sat system for €300, i am thinking about getting it for the brother for his 40th, have a look and tell us what you think, btw i will do the install for him as the poor bugger is terrified of heights.

    This one I presume?

How do you know exactly what channels they are giving you access too? They could be German music, sports, childrens etc. Would that not be worth checking out first?

Using the birds at 13, 19 and 28 degrees East, there would be a vast variety of channels of many languages, including English, Spanish, Italian, German, French, etc.

And the likes of Lyngsat.com is handy for lists of available free channels.

The offer seems OK, especially with the good Technomate 5200D with USB port (handy for recording onto external HDD).

Interesting site with Dreambox 500C/S for €145 and 600S for €189 and the 7020S for €520

Then in Germany.. hm-sat.de retail the 500-series for €209, 600S for €249 (dearer than satellitetv.ie) and 7020S for €349 (cheaper!)

Very strange price variations.. cheaper in some cases and much dearer in others.

Thats because the 500S,600C and 600S on satellitetv are most likely clones imported from China.
You will not get originals that cheaply anywhere.
You get a 2 year warranty with an original Dreambox.
hmsat are very reasonable and are an official Dreambox supplier.

It is obvious that you have a vested interest in that satellitetv site.
It is also obvious that the Dreamboxes on that site are inferior clones and not originals.
