Any Ideas on when the lineup for Pukkelpop is announced or any rumours for it?? Its between that and Rock Werchester at the min which I might add has a savage linupe- Neil Young, Sigur Ros, Radiohead etc! Will Rock Werchester sell out??

Go to pukkelpop, werchter won't be great this year in my opinion.
Some bands have already been announced I thought. To google!

The Daft Punk rumour seems to be still going?? worth the ticket price alone- seriously doubt it though!

i dout they will play, unless they announce a tour for August/September.

hopefully they can get RATM if their still touring!

Well, RATM are playing Reading/Leeds, so they are around about that time. Couldnt see why they wouldnt do it! Surely there'll be another festival or three around then that RAge will do.

All my RATM machine eggs have been put in the Pukkelpop basket so I really hope they are at it. Im pretty confident the Pukkelpop line up will be as strong as the last few. Its such a good festival cant recomend it enough to people.

Lineup is looking quite nice but not amazing. Going for Henry Rollins and the The Flaming lips but last years line up was much better.

I'm still holding out for Alanis Morissette though.

What's the easiest way to get to Pukkelpop? I'm really looking forward to it!

Flight to Brussels and train to Kiewit, train travel is inc in your Pukkelpop ticket so really you can fly to anywhere in Belgium and just get trains to the festival :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,747 ✭✭✭MikeHoncho

Yeah its so handy to get around Belgium. Last year we:

    Flew To Charloi
Got the bus to Brussles Central
Hopped on a train to Kewitt

Just follow the backpacks when you get there.

I'll probably end up going. Gone the last three years and have to keep it up!

Cheers for the heads up Mr.S on the Ryanair flights. I found flights at good hours for only around €40 return, though to check in a bag (which I'll probably have to do seeing as I would be camping) adds another €25. :( Still, €65 is pretty damn good, just too much for an impulse purchase!

I usually fly into Eindhoven across the border with Ryanair to pick up some weed before heading down but truth be told, it's a pain in the ass to get to Hasselt to/from there, even though it's actually closer than Charleroi.

It's still a worthy alternative; you can travel to Maastricht by train (at a cost) and then bus it to Hasselt.

Where did you hear about Msi and Alkaline Trio? It's not on the Pukkelpop website or either bands site?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

So 50+ new names have been released... till lacking with the second tier acts and headliner on the final night. There really aren't many bands that have a real draw for me to go, rather the smaller acts that would be cool to check out rather than going to their individual gigs.

I wonder if they will add RATM after their gig in Belgium next week? Still looks uncertain at the moment; it might not be in their best interest to play two large events in a small country in such a short span. Yet besides Rage, it's slim pickings re: possible headliners.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,536 ✭✭✭Brimmy

    They have their headliners now,

Metallica, The Flaming Lips, and sadly both Bloc Party and The Killers are credible festival headliners..

Some good bands in the new line up announced but it is paling in comparison to last years awesomeness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

I doubt Bloc Party will close the festival... probably be Soulwax/2 Many DJs if they can't get a decent headliner. Franz Ferdinand is one possibility. There's also the case where some bands that play Rock Werchter also play Pukkelpop (like Placebo a few years ago).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,536 ✭✭✭Brimmy

    Mr.S wrote: »
The Flaming Lips aren't headlining, where did you see that? If anything, it would be Bloc Party, as they are the same size font/line as the 2 other headliners, but i dont think its them.

Well they were on the same line until the new acts were announced and have been around longer than any of the other bands (bar Metallica, maybe?). Also they have a bigger worldwide following, sell out bigger venues and have a lot of albums with iconic songs that many who wouldn't know the band would recognize at a festival.

    Makes sense. Plus they're awesome.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

The Flaming Lips will most likely play before The Killers. That's fo sure.

Metallica will not be closing Friday off so there will probably be a dance act after their set... The Prodigy are rumoured.

The final day is anybody's guess, I'm sure the next announcement will reveal all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

It was stated in an earlier announcement, saying Metallica will play from 9pm. Can't remember where exactly where I read this though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,199 ✭✭✭Shryke

I just realized I'll be banging around Europe when this festival is on! Any confirmation on The Prodigy, Rage etc? Is the full lineup out there or is there much more to come?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

There's about 140 acts announced now and there should be approximetly 170 to 200 acts in total. Last year featured 194 acts.

Next lineup announcement should be next Tuesday.

Is it possible to fly to Antwerp from Dublin?
I'm definitely going to pukkelpop as long as i can get some friends to come with me
Cant wait for anti-flag, dropkick murphys, the unseen and well...just the whole thing! :)

Oh and what are the chances of The Offspring playing? That would be savage.

They typically update the lineup every two weeks on the Turesday.

Nay. Brussels International and Charleroi Airport are your best bets with Eindhoven Airport in the Netherlands being another option.

Hopefully offspring do play. Like tey have festival dates up til july anyway, so maybe they'll decide to take pukkelpop in too :)

Well people, I may be joining ye on this adventure now. Highly considering it, why so late, I dunno.

Anyway, does anyone know when this may sell out, cos I wont be able to get tickets for a bit if I do go? Class lineup already, and possibly more, as Mr. S said, Reading/Leeds players(hopefully Biffy get added!)

I didnt book my flights/tickets untill after Werchter last year, mid july:D

all the posters at werchter for it , convinced me to go:D.

You should deffo head to it, its a class festival, very relaxed, but tons of stuff going on, the boiler room untill 4am every night is worth the 135€ alone!

Haha, it does sound so sweet! I'd say I'd only go if I got a few certain friends going, and that means I need Conor Oberst to be added, otherwise its the slog to EP for me(not that I'd complain too much, would just prefer this). Heres hoping for next announcement though.

And whats the deals with the trains? Does the ticket include train travel for this one too? Really hope it works out now.

PS. Went by Leuven last Monday...ah the memories of RW'07:D

Festival has never sold out, bizarrely enough. You should be able to buy tickets at the gates, but they're cheaper in the presales by like €15.

Offspring would be amazing, really hope they get added, same with Prodigy, would get the place rocking:D

been keeping an eye on flights, and the Ryanair flight to Brussels on the 13th, back on the 17th is the cheapest so far, airlingus is just over 100€, but you get to fly to the nearer airport

About the flights, I saw Aer Lingus for €90...thats not too bad I dont think.

well im guessing your going to be checking in a bag if your bringing a tent, so that brings it to 100+.

the great thing is, theres not really a time pressure if you go with Ryanair, as the 13th, its only Djs at night, so you have the whole day to get to the camping, and on the 17th the flight it at 6 or 7, so you can just make your way slowly to the Airport:)

I was looking at Aer Lingus for those dates...plus I'd buy a tent there, so much hander, use the money saved on a bag to pay for it:D

EDIT: do they open the campsite the night before the first acts...as in on the Wednesday in this years case? That'd be class.

Yeah if you dont mind being miles back in the campsite.

Some new names added this evening. Still no sign of a decent headliner for the closing night. :/

Jubilee added:O. Hmm...makes it alot more tempting. For those of you who dont know this band, its Nine Inch Nails former member Aaron North, Josh Freese does stuff with them(prob not touring now), and QOTSA bassist Michael Schuman. Thats deadly they playing, hopefully catch them over here sometime then.

EDIT: turns out its a different drummer now, but Josh Freese does dostuff with them.

I'm a big NIN fan but don't know Jubilee. I'll check them out. Think any more would come of The Offspring/Daft Punk/Rage rumors?

Im almost certain there is a spot above Bloc Party, i dout Daft Punk would play, they aren't doing anything are they?

But Prodigy/OffSpring are a good bet i think.

Rage might play, but im sure they would have said if they where, as that would pull in the punters.

The addition of either would be great. I look forward to the rest of the line-up.

Haha Jubilee dont sound anything like NIN/QOTSA. Its very independant from the respective groups I find. Still good though IMO.

If they don't, then they had better have a concert here!

They had the stage breakdown online earlier this morning but it has been taken down. Looked decent enough... The Flaming Lips will be in the Marquee!

Plus Soulwax were on the Main Stage... I still reckon they'll be closing the festival on Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

New names added... looks like Sigur Ros are the headliners for Saturday night. :/ Only big draw is Meshuggah for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,659 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Damn this is really trying to get me to go over to Pukkelpop...sigur Ros & Meshuggah...nice. I really dont know what to do!

Not to impressed with the 3rd Headliner.

You're not impressed with Sigur Ros?

Booked flights for this yesterday and can't wait, although the line up isn't as strong overall as last year it has three of my favourite acts so I'm happy.

Anyone know if the campsite opens on the Wednesday? I'm fairly certain it did last year but just want to double check.

It sure does. The dance arena is open that night too.

I'm quite looking forward to it, better line up than Rock Werchter I think. I just have to book it before i ask my parents...:p

ANyone got the full line up?

    And the dates?

Went onto their site but web kept crashing everytime I tried to open it...

Operator Please and Jubilee have had to pull out! Kinda glad I'm not going to this, as I really wanted to see both those and, even though theres a lot more I would see, I am seeing them here or have seen them already!
