    Hello,

I'm looking for some advice on the options given by my dentist.

I have to get either a root canal or an extraction and i'm wondering which is the best option.

The root canal will cost about €1,500 with the crown and if I choose an extraction a bridge will cost €2000 and involve drilling into two healthy teeth.

I was wondering if I got an extraction could I get braces to help close the gap?
I have some crooked teeth at the front of my mouth which is hereditary and dentists have told both me and my sister that we don't need braces as our bite is okay. I think this might be an option to kill two birds with one stone!

I am also wondering if I should get a second opinion or visit a specialist directly?

I would appreciate any help as I've never had any major dental work done before.

    Thanks

    Sile:confused:

Get the bridge as root canals dont always work out and you then need to get a bridge anyway ie 3500 euro possible cost

Regarding the braces etc I have no advice but you do realise that the bridge will be made to fit the gap where the tooth has been extracted so there will be no space back there.

Based on your post there seems to be 3 options:
    1. Root Canal
    2. Extraction only
    3. Extraction plus Bridge

At the end of it you need to decide on a few things:
    A. Money - is it no object? Or is it a large factor.
    B. Position of the tooth. I had my first molar on the bottom left removed as it's not hugely obvious when I talk and only seen by people when I yawn.
