Just to let you lot know Lidl are selling motorbike gear from next Monday 17th (Paddys Day). Theyve got jackets, pants, helmets, gloves, tank bags, body armour, boots, battery chargers, bike covers and 2 way helmet radios.

Wouldnt be too sure about buying a lid for 35 euro myself but Im sure there'll be plenty of takers:-)

Thanks for the heads up. I was about to head out in a few mins to buy some new pants/leggings. I'll wait a few days and see what the Lidl stuff is like.

the battery charger is excellent for a tenner. it's very weak so can't damage batteries of any size. Just a little trickle of charge means it's slow to charge but gives a better result. i've charged large Ah batteries from diesel cars and it works a treat.

The walkie talkie feels solid enough. I'm gonna get one anyway...

I got a jacket from them last year and although its warm its not waterproof at all and zips are falling apart. I'm going to buy proper quality new one soon. The headsets are good if you dont mind the wires everywhere. The helmets are good value but I wouldnt trust them with my life. They are not anti fog either. The gloves are not waterproof only water resistant so not much use in ireland. The battery charger is the bizz for the price and so is the balaclava. The termals are actually expensive, i can buy them cheaper elsewhere as i have. the socks they have are pointless.

The pilot helmet defeat the purpose of a helmet (as I know from crashes myself). The back armor is great value but I could never see myself wearing one.

picked up a bike cover and a pair of gloves. tbh,the gloves are a bit on the thin side in terms of insulation from the cold but they'll do the job as a summer pair of gloves. gloves and a bike cover for €30,can't go wrong.;)

I would be more concerned about the protection qualities of these gloves in a spill rather than keeping out the cold. You can can get free "bike" covers from many of these waste disposal companies :)

It's Aldi's turn to offer bike gear next week (Mon 24th), they've got gloves with knuckle protection if ye're interested - got a pair myself last year and found them very comfortable.

Yeah, I wore the Aldi gloves through the winter there and they were ok.

Same here, I've worn the Aldi gloves for about a year now and they've actually been better than most of the "branded" gloves I've owned.

Those walkie talkie things look kind of useful, missed them.

Most stores have a decent bit left actually. If your spun around a few stores you'd probably get everything you wanted.

Lidl in the blanch centre only have 'large' size pants left, and a few of the jackets (looked medium-large). They are also down to one pair of boots and 3 radio's.

So, if you are 6'5" and a size 40 waist, you're in luck.

The modular XL would not fit, but the full face fitted. The problem is that it is a very noisely helmet.
