Big upset for Irish National Singles Champion Noel O’ Callaghan: After 17 consecutive wins in the National Singles, last weekend at the National Racquetball Singles Championships in Kingscourt, he was defeated at the semi final stage by 22-year-old Triston Hickey(Waterford)15-7, 15-8. In the other semi final, Liam Hughes(Fermoy) defeated Adam Neary(Arklow). Hughes defeated Hickey in the final, 15-3, 15-4 to become the first new champion in 17 years. In the womens singles, 15 year old CiaraMcManamon(Newport, Mayo) was the winner.

I don`t know of any clubs in Dublin, certainly no clubs from the Dublin area are affiliated to the Racquetball Association of Ireland(RAI). I know of courts in Santry, DCU, UCD, also a court in Ballyfermot, Goatstown and Oldtown in North Co Dublin. There was an active club a few years back which used a court on Ballygall Road, not sure if its still there, the court i mean. Unfortunately I dont have contact numbers for any of these. I was told some time back that you can play racquetball in the court at Croke Park but you must be a member.
Would any guys or girls who play racquetball in Dublin area be willing to form a club and affiliate to the RAI ? The RAI website is at www.racquetball-ireland.com .
I think you can also take out individual membership of the RAI which enables you to play in all their tournaments (season from October - May)
