there are 2 models of the cyma ak74 one with a optics mount plate one without, if you have the mount plate already installed then you need a simple rail mount like this http://www.rsov.com/product/105_135/1188/p_Cyma-AK-side-scope-mount-rail-C39.html and then mount a normal optic sight onto this, another option is a clone posp http://www.rsov.com/product/0/1310/p_ACM-4X26-AK-SVD-rifle-scope-with-illuminated-reticle.html or you can go for the real thing http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=54. If you do not have the side mounting plate already installed you will first need http://www.rsov.com/product/105_135/425/p_Cyma-original-side-bracket-for-AK74-AEG-C30.html .

    TBH you'll probably find a red-dot more useful than a scope, http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/detail.aspx?ID=114
Edit: Hang on, what happened to the side mounts the kobras used to have?

they just do not have any of the side mounting kobra in stock at the moment

If you did decide to go for a real Russian optical scope you'd probably want to replace the CYMA synthetic receiver with a metal one. The POSP is quite heavy, I wouldn't trust the plastic receiver to take the load stress, you'd probably be looking at the side rail snapping off at some point. The Kobra isn't nearly as heavy so I wouldn't be to worried about that, the only thing that's heavy about it is the price tag ;)

The Russian factories are producing most optics in weaver and dovetail versions now for western export.

    http://www.eirsoft.ie/store/product_info.php?products_id=2

i don't know if it has an optics mount plate or not, but worst case scenario do i have to go:

gun > optics mount plate > rail > scope ???

    can i not do

    gun > scope ???

    really confused here guys

    thanks

If the product number is correct then this model will have the side optic mounting plate, is the long thing on the left hand side of the receiver as you fire the aeg.

i've checked my rifle out and it does have the side mount.

BUT according to this guy he couldn't get that scope to work:

SVD's and ak's have different mounts.

You want to get an ak scope if you can find one.

You'll be better off with a red-dot, 3x,4x doesnt help at all, its too much on a 1 joule aegs range, and the ak will be good but not accurate enough to warrant a scope.

so i should just forget it? would a red dot not give away my position?

They dont roject a red dot onto your target or anything, there's just a red dot instead of crosshairs

Usually they are just a 1x scope (no magnification) with a lit up red dot for low light conditions.

I bought a 4x scope first, never got any use out of it, (suits an m16 by the way still in advert section!), so I'm getting a red-dot next.

They dont send out a laser beam, just project a dot on the recticle.

I have an Ak74u and I got a rail off ebay for €15 and a nice acog off MIA for €75 and the acog is great cuz the Ak's Iron sights aren't the best

If your looking to put a reddot or genuine collimator sight it cant be very expensive and hard to find.If your looking to go down that route let me know and ill save you from doing all the research I done.
