    Hi there,

I know that seems a lot to ask, but im just lookin after the pc.
Wasnt there a discussion a while back about the Windows updates a bit of a hog on the system, as did someone turn them off & on whenever they wanted?

Also when i was finding out about it, i came across SP3 i didnt realise as i have limited knowledge on this, do i need it? as i've already got SP2.

Also something was bothering the hell out of me, was a dialog box for a HP Imaging 1.0 saying i had to insert a cd in which i never had as its preinstalled AFAIK same with XP.

I've tried to stop it coming up every time i start the pc with MS Config, but not too sure on its capabilities or actions as i see this dialog box come up now.

Can anyone please advise me, thanks.

Xp sp3 is a release candidate at the moment. It's kind of like a beta test. There is no need to download it currently.

MSCONFIG is used to change the way that Windows starts up. From the looks of things someone has used it to change how your system behaves on boot up. You can either put it back into Normal Mode in the General tab of the MSCONFIG window, though that may negate any beneficial changes that have been made, or ignore the warning and check the box it shows in your screen shot to remove the warning.

Has anyone done any work on your computer recently?

HI Aidan, i forgot to say it was me that used MSCONFIG as no-one in the house uses it, although i usually keep my niece away from it, she presses 3 or 4 buttons & you see things comeup you shouldnt see:eek:

I'd only used MSCONFIG as a last resort as that dialog box for the HP app. i never use, wont go away now! as i usually cancel it when it initializes itself lookin for drivers & then it goes away, but at the moment its minimized.

I used MSCONFIG for gmail inbox reminder log-in etc & they dont all pop-up now on start-up, as thats what i thought would work here?

I've reverted back to the Normal mode after that pic showing up, i only came across that tip on Comp.Active as you try & keep up to date on these things.

Thanks for any further help received.

Update: I used Task Manager to stop the HP Dialog box coming up for now, who would av thought of that, you learn something...
