    Hello,
basically whenever I'm out drinking with my friends all is well until I go home to sleep and have about 16hours sleep. I cant afford to be sleeping like this as it affects my job but I do enjoy going out for a few pints. Should I give up the drink or is there anyway to sort out this bad sleeping habit??

Eh they have just invented something that solves your problem right away. Its called an alarm clock*

If drink is having a regular negative effect on either your personal or professional life then you should look at your drink habits. Maybe try keep it to the days when you dont have to work the next day, or just go out and dont have as many pints, or no pints at all, or find something else to do.

*warning may require will power to actually get the f**k out of bed

Sleepie , You have said in your post that it is a habit and a bad habit at that .
So to clarify this you ...go out drinking..come home at 3am and sleep until 7pm the next day ...doesn't make any sense really does it ??? Try to find something to get up for ...

drinking is the bad habit not the sleeping, think about it.

How much consumption are we talking about here? A thimble of whiskey? A keg of Beer? And for that matter how much sleep are you getting on a regular basis and might it just be a case of Sleep Debt?

Id go with the sleep debt theory too. The drink just brings it out. Also the type and quantity of drink might be having an effect too. Care to elaborate on what and how much?

But yes, use an alarm clock and willpower. Noone really needs 16 hours of sleep. You could make yourself get up if you wanted to (or had to).

Usually about eight pints on a night out. I have needed & wanted to get up for work before and have slept through my alarm (also bought a really loud alarm from argos)
