Read the FAQ's and probably the best piece of advice is to attend a skirmish before you buy and see and try other peoples ones first. There is a large choice depending on quality, ergonomics and size. One that you like on the internet may not feel great to hold in your hands.

The differences arent as massive as you think, that is if you get a good one, I say this as a person who trained on the Styer(aswell as M1911 and Bren) in the RDF

The airsoft styr is one of the most realistic in terms of looks and stripping. The TM one strips the same way as the real one. But you dont really need to strip an airsoft gun that often so this would only be handy if you had live fire drill comeng up and you wanted to practice. SCOPE, who plays at gtac, has a beautiful modified civi aug. Get onto him, he should be able to answer all your questions.

    1. buying is easy, look at the retailer threads on the main forum,
    www.eirsoft.ie
    www.mainirishairsoft.ie
    www.airsofteire.com
    www.irishairsoftsupplies.ie

2.nope, ya dont need a licence, just buy them there and they'll come to your door.,

    3. really depends on what your into yourself but anything made by Dboys, JG, galaxy etc are perfect for getting started and will cost in or around the 80-150ish bracket, you can spend more on the high end stuff by TM or CA if you prefer, thats usually around the 300ish range.,

hope that helps, and welcome to airsoft.,:)

oh, and its frowned apon to call them weapons., only the real ones are weapons.,:)

i was also trained on the AUG and decided that because i knew the real steel then i would go for the airsoft version.very good marker(i have both Ca and JG military versions)only problem being is that i knew the real steel so well that i became quickly bored with the airsoft version. If you insist on buying one i would recommend the JG AUG only because it a hell of a lot cheaper and not much difference from the CA.also should warn you that wearing of your RDF DPM's is a big no-no(its illegal)when skirmishing.

i would recommend the JG AUG

Which will probably be delivered to you hot

Right we have to get somthing clear here. Airsoft Guns are toys not weapons and its against the forum rules to refer to them as such.

Simply put the definition of a weaopn is somthing thats going to be used to kill or harm sombody else so by definition its not a weapon. I have several real firearms and their not weapons either.

Only the current Irish DPM, the old Irish DPM or the English stuff are fine and I think it's pretty close to the current Irish.

Could be wrong about the similarities though.
