I deciding between keeping these in my xv-550

    http://store.guitarfetish.com/crpafhiouhuz.html

or putting in a gibson 490 and 498 from another guitar.

Which would be better? Don't know much about pickups so help deciding would be great :)

Those pickups seem to be too cheap.....you probably get what you pay for.

If the alternative 490 and 498 are geniune Gibsons, then that is what i would put in.

For an extra few quid, you can get Seymour Duncan SH-4's from ebay for about €55 including postage from USA.

I've actually had the opportunity to try both the GFS pickup and a Gibson 490 in the same guitar and, to my ears, the GFS Crunchy PAF is the better sounding pickup. It's a bit crisper than the Gibson, has a bit more bite to the mids and higher output too, but without being harsh. The Gibson was just a bit muddy in comparison, it didn't rock my world at all.

The SD SH-4 is a step up again, definitely, but the GFS is a very decent pickup, regardless of the price.
