I think from the experience of others (I'm a n/mother) your initial step should be to contact the adoption agency to get what info you can.

After that you could read the detailed info given here (there are also people in this group who have been adopted from the same place that may be able to give you their personal experiences):

    Good luck.

    hi
i was also adopted from blackrock, but my adoption was handled through cunamh in dublin. first of all phone the sacred heart adoption agency in blackrock ph 021 4357730 and tell them you would like to make an appointment to come in and see them a.s.a.p tell them you would like your non identifying information and a search done for your natural family.
if at any time you feel you are not being treated fairly or information is being held from you write to the adoption board with any complaint.
get your name on the contact register asap as they will probably ask you have you done this, you can download a applacation form from the adoption board website. if you need any more help please ask....kathy
