Places to stay, things to do Midlands UK

    Hi there
    Just wondering if anybody could give me any pointers on nice (romantic :) )
    hotels to stay in the Midlands UK region (Derbyshire, Leicestershire etc).
    I am heading over there with my OH in the next few weeks as I've booked him in for a driving trackday experience in that area (birthday surprise!). We're going to be over there for a few days though, so I was thinking of hiring a car and driving around and having a nice break.
    Can anybody recommend nice hotels in that area? As we'll have a car we are pretty flexible. Also things to do in the area. I know the Peak district is supposed to be lovely..? We are flying in and out of East Midlands airport.
