I touched on this in the "cubase problem" thread, but think it deserves it's own topic.
Most here will know that besides practically inventing the solid body guitar that bears his name, Les Paul also invented multitrack recording, delay etc.
There is an amazing documentary on youtube that tells his life story, starting as a guitar player, through recording on top of his prerecorded tracks to inventing the 8 and 16 track.
Watching it now and is the best thing I have seen in a long time.
