Sound Device problems

    Hi

Have been having problems with the audio on my computer.
Anytime i try to play a song with Windows Media Player I get the message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."

The sound on no websites such as Youtube, Myspace etc will work either. On the websites it shows that the video/song is playing but no sound is working.

Tested the speakers in my mp3 player and they were working no problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks

    Ste

You need your soundcard driver download, please find out which sound chipset you have and download the drivers for it, the easiest way is going to manufacturers page and enter computer model number, a driver should be available there then, Realtek, Creative, Sigmatel are common brands

Another thing to check is that you have the correct sound device selected in the control panel sound devices section.

Some programs like Skype & some MP3 players can change them unknown to you ;)
