Does anybody know of anywhere (music shop or whatever) in Dublin that modifies the Harley Benton GA5 amplifier.

No music shops that I know of in Dublin.

There are a few amp techs but TBH, it's not worth bringing that amp to a tech to get modified. You'd be paying much much more than its worth.

If you bought it to have it modified then you did wrong, if you bought it to do it yourself then good for you. Research it, there are various mod sites around for it. It's pretty much identical to the Epiphone valve junior. But please, and I must stress this... Please be very careful. Mains voltage is nothing to be taken lightly.

I'd be even more worried about the DC voltage stored in the filter caps even while the amp is off and unplugged. And other safety announcements.

Yes of course, you should be aware of that also! :pac: (any excuse to use pacman) :D

I've modded mine myself but as the lads have already pointed out you need to be extremely careful when working on the PCB.

What do you want to mod? Anything other than a simple valve change will require opening up the chassis and exposing yourself to up to 400Vdc.
This can be discharged but again you need to know what your doing first.

The mods I did were to modify the input impedance circuit, mod the preamp bias for more gain, install a triode/pentode selector switch, install a HT fuse, install a 4/8ohm selector switch and most importantly install a stand-by switch.
These are easy enough to do but again make sure you know what you doing first.
