What does flash mean when used in the context for tattooing. As in flash drawings or whatever!?:D

mass produced designs circulated among tattoo shops that you can pick off a wall/book/website and get an tattoo artist to do on your skin.
    pros:requires no thinking
cons: at least 50 other ppl in the world will have the same exact tattoo

Some studios also design their own flash.

speaking of flash, was in snakebite the other day and some random old dude asked the new artist, can't think of his name to do a tatt from his portfolio for him, and artist boy said, in what seemed to me to be pure anger that he couldn't do this tatt cuz it was a free hand, no stencil for it etc, and yer man looked at him like he was about to kill him, but he did agree to try design summit similar...even steve was lookin at the two of em like he was gonna have to jump in and play ref..

sorry just reminded of that for some reason...

Yep, a lot of the tattooists used to draw their own flash sheets. They usually used the images copied or passed on from other artists. But a fair few of them had their own unique hand drawn sheets. The word "Flash" came from the bright posters originally used by Carnivals/Circus's to attract the crowds., the sames way as Tattoo flash to attract customers.
