Could I get a better deal?

    Hi all,
I've ordered this for 960 including vat and delivery:
    XPS M1530
    - CORE 2 DUO T7700 2.40GHz
    - 160.00Gb HD (7200 RPM)
    - 2048.00Mb Mem (667MHz)
    - GF 8600m GT
    - Vista premium
    - 8xDVD+/-RW Slim Slot-Load Drive
    - Plus all the usual extras (fingerprint reader, wireless card etc.)

I know a fair bit about laptops so unless I'm badly mistaken this is a pretty good deal. The problem is that I've found this site and they seem to be doing better laptops for the same price. They are based in the U.S. so would I get it passed customs or would I take a big VAT hit? I'm mainly going to be using it for games and the odd dash of college. My upper budget is about 1100.
All advice and suggestions welcome, thanks in advance!

EDIT: I couldn't care less about mobility or warranty

That's very good value so don't worry about whether you could have done better or not.

You'll pay vat on any imports from the US. 21% or something, and possibly import duty too.

I wouldn't call the M1530 a pure 'gaming' machine, but with an upper budget of 1100 you won't do much better so i'd be happy enough with the deal you got.

    Thanks for the replies lads.

@ voodoo: Yea I was also looking at the entry level xps m1710 which I could probably get for 1260 with a coupon but it seems already a bit outdated (160gb 5600rpm and no N wireless card). Do you know if the 21% applies to the price paid or the estimated irish price?

@typhoon: I found it on the dell outlet store: www.dell.ie/outlet
I've ordered off them before and got a very good system for well under the odds so I trust the outlet laptops. You just have to be quite patient and wait for a good one to be listed.

It applies to the price paid. The US seller/poster has to fill out a declaration of value and nature of goods etc. and attach it to the outside of the parcel. The customs dept calculate the charges due based on this.

The M1710 is definitely starting to show its age. For gaming, the 7950GTX version will still out-perform a lot of current laptops, but the entry-level version doesnt have this card afaik.
