You forgot to mention the price. Not a bad spec at all if its reasonably priced

    €729.99

Fairly good spec for that price, 8600gt wouldn't be the best for modern games at high resolutions & pity bout the 8Mb cache hard drive but better deal than Dell are offering at moment here

What i would need this particular pc for is Graphics, web design, photo editing. Seems to be well equiped for this. To upgrade later on to a better graphics card - could i simply add another card or would i have to replace the exisiting card?

That card is absolutely fine for 3d graphics, just not for gaming at higher resolutions. It will suit your needs perfectly.

    Thanks Squall20
I followed the link and was very impressed till i discovered that i was in the 'small business ' section of the dell website where prices are much cheaper. As i am not registered as a 'small business' - i wouldn't be eligable
    Thanks anyway

    What do you mean?

It comes out at €894, which is a very good deal for a quad,8800gt,22" monitor,750gb, 3gb ram, gaming/multimedia pc

Has anybody purchased a desktop from Aldi before? Any major problems.

I'm looking at a cheaper lower spec'd fujitsu (and might also consider the dell mentioned here), but would like to hear about anybody's previous experience with a Medion. Thanks.

Don't think much of their pc's to be honest. Maybe one high end part such as the obsolete HD-DVD drive and only average components for the remainder.
Not worth the price. Better off getting a dell or similiar..at least you're getting this years tech not last years.

granturismo and OP, I've purchased a PC from them before the 8818 Model which is very similair in style and has older/less powerful cpu/memory/graphics card/hd etc.

Good machine, well built and comes with a 3 year pick up warranty. I have had no problems and use it mainly as a media centre. Although mine isn't that quite as the HD is noisy. Not an issue for me. Also, the case is very big and to me not really suited to living near the TV. That is where mine is for the moment hooked up to TV with HMDI and to my AMP via SP/DIF.

However, mine has a BTX m/board which is bad news for upgrading and the bios is locked which rules overclocking out.

I will eventually built my own HTPC but this was a good introduction to the world of HTPC.

Good point, just in case some dont know, all the Dell's use BTX except the new xps630 series which use Atc, they can take a new motherboard and so on, they can also be overclocked...

    Edit Atx

Here's a link to a german language video showing external and internal components. Looks like there are no spare SATA cable connections for additional drive.

    http://www.computerbild.de/videos/Video-zum-Test-Aldi-PC-Medion-Akoya-MD8833_2355881.html

Is that anything to do with the motherboard type?
