    An example

6/1 shot each way with places 2,3,4 paying one-quater of the odds. So if put on 50 euro EW thats 100.

So if it comes in 2/3/4 do I get 50 back?

    Mike.

I think I'm right in saying that if the horse wins, you win E375 and get your E100 back.
If the horse comes 2/3/4, you win E75 plus your e/w stake of E50 back.
So if it wins, you get E475 and 2/3/4 you get E125.

You get €125 back. (50@ 6/4 on the place bet)

Ah right so the 50 for the win is "lost".

Ye an each way bet is basically two bets in one!!

the first bet is to win, the second is to place...

bookies like PP, Betfair allow you to bet on place market so for example you can go 20 on the win and 40 on the place.
