I installed Vista on my laptop which originally came with XP so I need drivers for my graphics card: nVidia Geforce 8600m GT.

Since nvidia don't support latop cards ( i think? ), I need to get one off www.laptops2go.com but which do I get?

Thanks for any help, not up to scratch on driver info myself!:p

The Dell website has the officially supported drivers - these will be the most tested and most reliable for your card and laptop.

The ones on laptopvideo to go are usually the most recent (beta) drivers, which need a modified inf file to run install in your machine. While they're the most recent and occasionally offer good performance increases, they can also be unstable, and so i'd only bother with them if you're happy to constantly chop and change as necessary.

Vista's driver management is much improved over XP, you shouldn't need to uninstall the old driver, or worry about driver cleaning. It also keeps the old driver handy in case you need to 'roll back' if the new one is causing problems.

Can't wait to install a crisp, fresh copy of XP on my Vostro 1500 tonight, thanks for reminding me to get around to it. I've stuck with Vista since I got it with the laptop last September - incidentally, despite actually ordering it with XP - but I simply can't hack it anymore.
