Why are women so freaky about cleaning???

My wife works full time...but when she gets home all she wants to do is clean..wash the kitchen floor..do the bathrooms...hoover the landing..you name it she just WANTS to do it.

I try to help out like making the dinner...doing cookups for babys dinners...minding the babog....but even when all the obvious stuff is done she moves onto other things like organising and filing all the bills, bank statements, going through mine and hers sock drawer making sure she has EVERY pair matched.....

Are all women like this or is it just my one??

In my experience, they all are.

It's like their hobby or something!

Sounds like from your discription she might be suffering from OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder ) .

    just your one! lol :D

seriously, lots of women are like this - it's an evolutionary thing - maintaining one's nest.... Although if it's extreme it could be OCD:eek:, or she could just be hyperactive.

I'm not like this and I'm a woman. I like a tidy house (well tidy-ish) but it wouldn't be top on my priority list. i.e. when I come home from a hard slog at the office I'll either relax or go do something of interest like gym or play my piano. At the weekend me and the hubby do a blitz of the gaff for about an hour (we've no kids so it doesn't take too long) - that's about it for us!

    Are you worried about it?

Im beginning to think men suffer from some sorta Dirt Blindness. She has this freaky sixth sense for dust...she even keeps a tin of Mr Sheen and a duster in her bedside locker.

Her friends are calling her Bree now...(Bree van der kamp)

I'm with Latchyco on this one. that's just odd. She's definitely preoccupied with it. Her own mam is probably like this too. Didn't lick it off a stone, i'd say

Sounds like she's spent too much time watching Monica in friends, and doesn't get the joke.

Women in general are a bit psycho about cleaning though.

Sorry guys its not Mr Sheen.....its Tesco natural furniture polish....with beeswax. I just checked.
    In her bedside locker
Yeah..in her bedside locker. People have made the comment that you would never suspect that theres a baby in our house, since the place is just spotless ALL the time.

I disagree. Must be something that comes with age/babies because none of the women I know (family or friends) are preoccupied with cleaning!:)

Also, OP with that level of cleaning there has to be a lot chemicals in your gaff (bleach, air sprays, polishes, surface cleaners) - that's worse than if it were a little bit dirty in my book. I read somewhere that we should be exposed to the likes of dust mites etc as that's how our bodies build up a tolerance to them, e.g. if you keep a baby in a sterile condition 24/7 their defences don't really develop properly (I'm not spouting sh*te, i read that somewhere...)

It's a myth that men dont do any cleaning around the house . I do my fair share and apperently in america, and i was only reading this yesterday, but some married women are rewarding their hubbies with sex for more cleaning duties around the house .Can you believe it ?

while going through the sock drawer is a bit much, living in a filthy environment is just ... not doable
dont get me wrong, i live clothes sprawled everywhere and im lazy as hell, but a dirty bathroom or floor (as boys seem wont to leave them) is just not on
you feel better when things are all clean and fresh.

Fo me though it has to be the bathroom - i.e. the shower sink, round the taps, hairs outta plug hole etc

Apparently so and you can see why. If she's thinking of giving birth in an environment she'll want to lower the chances of infection for her child. That's the old ape brain kicking in. Seems sensible. That said I've known landlords(men and women) who prefer to rent to guys as they found women more messy. Personally I'd live in a cave and wouldn't mind a bit of clutter.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Meh what's the worst you're gonna have to deal with? Bits of you or your loved ones? Not really an issue.

I makes me heave, even though I know its mine or my daughters hair. We've both got really long hair aswell so its gross.. :o

Back to OP, sounds fairly normal to me. (If a tad exhausting.)

give me hoovering anyday. Hair on peoples head is nice, down a grimmy plughole is yuk!

I often trick OH into doing it, he has a crap memory and I aways say 'but I did it last time' *whiny voice* and he cleans it again
Iacually feel a bit bad now after seeing that in writing!

Question is, will the world end if it doesn't get done?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

@OP: Enjoy it while you can. I've lived with women who were happy to live like pigs and its a horrible situation to be in. I'm pretty lazy and not a tidy person at all, but even I have limits, and its bad when even they aren't reached.

It has nothing to do with biology it is how your mammie raised you.

Lot of my male friends and relatives were raised to be domestic imbeciles, so they would appreciate the martyr that was Mammie better.

It is a form of snobbery for some people too.

I suppose if they haven't got anything better to be doing then why not le them at it?
