    well guys

i have my macbook about three months now and loving it. I am so glad i made the switch. Just have a few small problems i thought you could help me out with

    (1) when i leave the computer sitting awhile and go to press a key on the keyboard it does not recognise the first key press. This happens regularly enough with safari since the update.

    (2) Another problem with safari here. It keeps dropping my internet connection. when it does happen i have to switch airport off and then on again.

    (3) I have office 08 installed on the machine. Microsoft powerpoint will not allow me to print certain powerpoints. The spinning ball just comes up and i have to force quit powerpoint. Do you think i should try a clean re-install ? Would it make any difference. Thanks for any help guys

    1) This is apparently fixed with a recent update
    2) Never had this

    1: I've a powerbook, not an issue
2: Again, no issues with mine.
3: I have office, found that happening with word/excell, re-installed and no problems at all.

    1) My Macbook used to be slower to wake up after a few minutes of non use than other computers I have used. It isn't an issue to worry about, it's just how long it takes. If you dislike it, go into System Preferences, click on Energy Saver and turn off the go to sleep mode, or even turn it off entirely.

    2) Maybe your issue is with either Airport/WIFI or your ISP. I use both WIFI on guest networks as well as Ethernet and I never drop out. Try alternative ways to log online or different browsers if you have such installed.

    3) On your issue with Powerpoint, I would suggest that you delete MS Office Test Drive which came pre installed with your Macbook. It caused me a few issues with some MS documents early on in both my iMac and Macbook (which both had it) but not my Powerbook which didn't have it. If you had it pre installed, it may well be the 2004 Office version, which often has arguments with it's hosting machine. Delete this entirely and you should be sorted out.

This is a known issue which is supposed to be fixed by an Apple firmware upgrade, however some users report that the issue remained.

There is an issue in 10.5.2 whereby Airport keeps scanning for networks in the background, and drops the current connection. Fixes include updating modem firmware if possible.

Office '08 and 10.5.2 are not working well together - lots of crashes and spinning beachball activity. Tried re-installing it a few times on my wife's MacBook and on my iMac, but had to re-install Office '04 on hers as it was still rubbish (passable on my iMac). Apparently Apple and MS are working on the issue.

Regarding issue 3, Microsoft have released an update to Office 2008 for Mac - time will tell if it really fixes things...
