2l bottles of Coca-Cola are BOGOF in Tesco at the moment (in Merrion, and online anyway), so you can get 4 litres of coke for €1.99!

With around €1 the regular price for a 500ml bottle, that's a pretty good deal!

edit: the offer is also on Diet Coke, Diet Coke with Lime, Caffeine Free Diet Coke, and Coke Zero

the BOGOF is only for the liquid, not the CO2.

Don't often find that myself with the offers in particular, although there are big differences between batches of Coke in general, some are really fizzy, others fairly flat.

Whether or not the coke might be flat, Tesco, Dunnes etc usually seem to inflate the price in the weeks before and after such offers to make them appear like better value.

    It is what it's.

Just you! mine are always fine, and I am particular about it being fizzy. You should always chill your coke first, then open, and leave it upright in the fridge. I get about 4 pours from a 2L and then would toss it. At that price if you get a pint it is still cheaper than 500ml bottles.

Also go for the fullest bottles on the shelf, there can be a 2cm difference in levels, and I do find fuller bottles are fizzier, I imagine they get carbonated to a certain pressure and it might go higher in a fuller bottle, the plastic is thicker at the neck so wont expand as much. Also when the pressure is detected the valve would shut off with a small delay, a smaller free volume at the top means more fizz in the coke. (yes I do think too much about this stuff). And just squeeze the bottles, harder ones will be fizzier.

Make sure to give the ones you don't buy a good shake, too.
    It's only polite. ;)

:D yeah, I get odd looks pulling ones out from the back, the lads on the CCTV must wonder what the hell I am up to.

I actually dont check fruit as much, fizzy coke is essential though!

Yeah positive, I actually heard it advertised on the radio on Sunday too, they did have 3 for 2 on Fanta when I got the Coke but Coke was definitely 2 for 1

Thats what I was thinking too. I got some coke zero 3 for 2 a few weeks back, then the offer was over, it was up at 1.99 at the time, nearly all are now.

At the weekend I think fanta was 2 for €2.50 in a double pack, maybe also sprite. Tescos soft drink offers are all over the place, sometimes it is cheaper to buy 2 than 3, you just have to work it out. For ages all the pepsi was really cheap without any signs or offer on the pack, think it was 92cent for 2L. Twin packs of pepsi were under €2 for a good while too. Club orange prices are also all over the place at times.

My other scam is getting vouchers when no offer is on, save them and use when an offer is on. This happens a lot with walshs foods products (spiceburgers etc) they can have loads of 50cent off vouchers, then a month later no vouchers are about but products can be half price, at 99C, so you end up getting 75% off.

Tesco had this offer on again and was supposed to be until 5/5/08, i went down this morning and picked up 10 bottles but when i checked my receipt it said the coke was 3 for 2 so i went to the customer service desk and queried it as they still had signs up, anyway i got all the coke for free.It might be worth checking to see if other branches still have the BOGOF signs up you'll end up getting it all for nothing :) BTW i was in the Arklow branch and they took the signs down.

seem to be phasing this out in paul street tesco. still have pepsi BOGOF which is almost as good.(cue coke is coke, not pepsi. coke rule$ etc)

Just happened to be back from local tesco when I spotted this thread...had bought two 2lts of diet coke marked as 2for1...checked the receipt and had been charged for two. Went back in, having wasted petrol doing so....got 1.99 back, but girl at CS desk said I couldn't get both free as it was 2 for 1 and I was getting 2 for 1 (wasn't going to stand around arguing).
Told them they'd want to shape up their price labels.
The CS levels in tesco are awful...it's a shame Sainsbury's haven't an Irish operation....the difference in the way you get treated in their stores, even the busy one in Newry, by young smiling staff is a breath of fresh air compared to the scowls and general lack of giving a f*ck in Tesco...

Well said! It has been like this for 20 years or more where you get treated like a human being in any business north of the border unlike here where you're normally treated like a doormat and ignored!
